2021 Golden Boy award: shortlist cut to 60
The list of nominations for the Golden Boy Award 2021 has been reduced from 80 to 60 in the search to nominate the best young talents currently playing in Europe.
Erling Haaland is the current holder of the prestigious award, which has also previously been won by Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba, Raheem Sterling and Kylian Mbappe.
The Italian newspaper Tuttosport is monitoring the process and started by naming 100 top talents in June, which was reduced to 80 last month and now stands at 60. It will be lowered further to 40 in September, before the last 20 are revealed in October.
The online public vote is responsible for removing the list, but an expert panel from Italy’s top sports magazines and TV channels will select the winner in November, while the award ceremony will take place in mid-December.
