review of the hearing week at the Soro trial

Guillaume Soro and 19 of his relatives are being prosecuted for their involvement to varying degrees in an alleged conspiracy against the state.

14 defendants appear, the other 6 are in exile. This week for two days, Abidjan heard the criminal case from the close guard of the close rebel leader, as well as one of his two brothers and his former chief of protocol. But at the end of 5 days of hearing, this trial does not yet seem to release any responsibility or clear roles in this alleged conspiracy.

At the moment, the debates have mainly focused on the day of December 23, 2019. Date of Guillaume Soros’ interrupted return and the police raid on his party’s headquarters where a press conference was held. The magistrates were very interested in the weapons, were filtered out of the building by guards and later found in the lagoon.

To believe members of ex-security closer to Guillaume Soro, who appeared in recent days, these weapons, ten according to one of them, were thrown in panic, in Assinie, in the lagoon bordering Guillaume Soro’s residence. “I could not go to the neighbor to do so,” even defended without laughing one of the questioned guards involved in the immersion of these Kalashnikovs.

At the moment, the debate over the soundtrack has been rare, where we hear Guillaume Soro say to himself that he can unleash a coup whenever he wants. Recording, however, was broadcast at the beginning of these debates. The believers among the faithful of Guillaume Soro, his director of protocols, Soul To Soul, questioned on this recording claimed that they did not know or did not want to know what was written on it.

As for Simon Soro, one of the brothers of the former president of the congregation, he defends himself from all political activities. “I do not understand what I am doing here. I consider myself a hostage. I was arrested for being Guillaume Soros’ little brother, he said on Thursday. Next hearing, next Wednesday 9 June.
