FLN won an election marked by a strong

The National Independent Electoral Authority (ANIE) announced on Tuesday the National Liberation Front (FLN) victory in the legislative elections held on Saturday, in a context of very strong closure and political crisis.

With 105 seats, the FLN is still the leading party in the Algerian parliament. According to the results – still provisional – the independents achieve a breakthrough with 78 seats. They thus become the second largest political bloc in the new parliament.

In third place, they are followed by the main Islamist party, the Mouvement de la société pour la paix (MSP) with 64 seats, while the National Democratic Rally (RND), an ally of the FLN, received 57 seats out of 407 held by the National Assembly. The Jil Jadid movement, which represents young people and participated in this election, finally got only one seat.

These legislative choices were marked by a very strong downcast voice, with a share of 23%. Voting is “the largest party” in Algeria, ironically several analysts.
