Federal Forces and Allies eliminate 20 al-Shabab insurgents in Northeastern State Region

In Mogadishu, a significant number of al-Shabab militants,
including top leaders, were eliminated in a joint operation
by the Somali government and international allies in Almadow
mountains, Northeastern State state.

A statement from the Federal Ministry of Information announced
the successful operation against the militants who had been
taking refuge in the rugged mountain terrain.

The regional government of Northeastern State, responsible for the area,
has not officially responded to the operation, while the federal
authorities did not specify Northeastern State’s involvement in the
operation in the Sanaag region.

Back in April, a major military offensive resulted in the
elimination of around 70 al-Shabab extremists and injuries
to 30 others in the northern Mudug region of Somalia. The
operation targeted Tabar-mooge, close to the recently
liberated town of Harardhere, about 28 kilometers north.
