Dhusamareb (AX) – In a fierce inter-clan skirmish, at least eight folks on both sides met their demise, with another ten suffering injuries, in a small hamlet nestled between Heraale and Abudwak districts in Galgadud region this past Saturday.
Clashes erupted in the Landhere locale, a mere 20 km from the Hurshe quarter, as rival militias from Heraale and Abudwak clashed.
Traditional elders have launched initiatives to quell the brawl, aware of its potential to escalate into significant bloodshed. The Galmudug regional authority has remained tight-lipped regarding the flare-up of this clan vendetta in central Somalia.
This brutal inter-clan tussle comes on the heels of a thwarted attack by al-Shabab, where at least 16 militants met their end attempting to storm a Somali military base in El-Dher district, Galgadud. The assault was kicked off by explosions, swiftly followed by an exchange of gunfire between the insurgents and army forces.
