Norwich can loan Brandon Williams

Norwich City are in advanced talks to sign Brandon Williams on a season-long loan from Manchester United.

Williams has been a bit of a player at Old Trafford for the past two seasons, providing coverage on both pitches. He has made a total of 50 appearances since making his debut during the 2019/20 campaign.

Newcastle and Southampton were both keen to take him on loan last summer but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blocked his departure because he wanted him left for squad depth. However, the situation is different this time, with Diogo Dalot – who spent last season on loan at Milan impressed Solskjær during the pre-season.

According to Sky Sports, another loan for Dalot has been ruled out and he will compete with Aaron Wan-Bissaka for the right-back position.

This has opened the door for Williams to possibly resign before the transfer window closes. Norwich is leading the race for his signature this time around and although other Premier League clubs are interested, the Canary Islands are confident of making a deal. That being said, the negotiations are not expected to be completed this week.

Williams would be a good replacement for starting right-back Max Aarons, who 90 minutes understands that Norwich are afraid of losing this summer. Both Arsenal and Tottenham have previously been strongly linked, but they are not the only Premier League clubs that sniff around the hill.

Norwich have already lost a key player in this window with Emiliano Buendia sealing a £ 38m transfer to Aston Villa as early as June. The Canary Islands have been active since then and have sealed no less than eight signings so far.

However, they did not get the best start, but went down to a 3-0 defeat against Liverpool in their opening Premier League game of the season.
