Leandro Trossard struck late to lift Arsenal past West Ham United 1-0 on Sunday, a result that restored the Gunners’ five-point cushion over Manchester City at the top of the Premier League and left West Ham staring at relegation to the second tier.

With the match finely balanced and neither side able to seize control, Trossard linked up with Declan Rice before seeing his 15-meter effort take a decisive deflection into the goal with only seven minutes remaining.

There was late drama when West Ham striker Callum Wilson fired the ball into the Arsenal net in the fifth minute of stoppage time, but the goal was ruled out after a VAR check.

The three earlier kickoffs on Sunday all ended in draws, with Burnley salvaging some pride at home to UEFA Europa League finalist Aston Villa.

Jaidon Anthony put the already relegated home side ahead, while Ross Barkley equalized for Aston Villa in the 42nd minute.

Aston Villa took the lead through Ollie Watkins in the 56th minute, only for Zian Flemming to make it 2-2 two minutes later.

Everton’s hopes of qualifying for Europe next season suffered a setback as it was twice pegged back by Conference League finalist Crystal Palace.

James Tarkowski put Everton in front after six minutes, with Ismaila Sarr making it 1-1 and Jean-Philippe Mateta earning a point for Crystal Palace after Beto had restored Everton’s lead in the 47th minute.

Elliot Anderson scored an 88th-minute equalizer for Nottingham Forest that secured its survival in a 1-1 draw at home to Newcastle United, which had led through Harvey Barnes’ 74th-minute strike.
