Officials said the talks were aimed at deepening bilateral ties in the security field, with a particular focus on training initiatives and efforts to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Somali Police Force, including its elite Haramcad unit.

The meeting comes amid continuing efforts by Somalia and Turkey to broaden their partnership in security and institutional development.

Turkey has long played a central role in rebuilding Somalia’s security institutions, supporting the military, police, and air force. It also runs one of its largest overseas military training bases in Mogadishu, where thousands of Somali security personnel have been trained in recent years.
