RIYADH — With the Hajj season approaching, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health has announced that vaccinations must be received no later than 10 days before the pilgrimage begins.
The ministry said immunization remains the first line of protection for pilgrims, helping them carry out the rites in safety and good health while supporting the body’s immune response and lowering the chance of illness.
The recommended vaccines include meningococcal (meningitis), COVID-19, and seasonal influenza, given their vital role in limiting the spread of infections during a season marked by high population density.
Appointments for vaccination can be booked through the Sehhaty app, as well as through adult immunization clinic services, in a move aimed at simplifying procedures and improving access for pilgrims.
The ministry also said the vaccines may be administered together or separately depending on the assessment of a specialist, and stressed that all of them are considered highly safe, including for pregnant women, as they comply with approved safety standards.
Officials said the guidance is part of broader efforts to reinforce preventive health measures, reduce medical risks, and help ensure a safe and healthy Hajj season.
