Wales star Gareth Bale storms off when asked about the future

Gareth Bale stormed off during an interview after Wales’ 4-0 defeat to Denmark on Saturday and refused to answer a question about whether he had played his last game for his nation.

The 31-year-old spent last season at Tottenham Hotspur, but rumors have swirled that he can hang up his boots after Euro 2020, with uncertainty about his future continuing to linger.

Bale faced the cameras after the disappointing loss, but he walked away from the interviewer frustrated when asked if he would ever play for Wales again.

“I know you were asked yesterday if this would be your last match for Wales, you said you wanted a new one,” the beIN Sports reporter began. But Bale felt the issue in the direction and stormed away and refused to give any clarity about his situation.

The Real Madrid man could not prevent Wales from suffering a heavy defeat in the round of 16 and crashing out to an impressive Denmark side, who controlled the match when he took the lead just before the half-hour limit.

And before his suspension, Bale admitted that the game did not go “how we wanted”, and Kasper Dolberg’s fantastic opener changed the match completely.

“It’s not how we wanted the game to go. From our point of view we started very well – the first 25 minutes – we let in the goal and the game changed a bit.

“We came out in the second half and tried to play it and unfortunately made a mistake to admit the goal that killed momentum on our side.”

Wales conceded two late goals to fall to a 4-0 defeat, and mood flared towards the end, with Harry Wilson receiving a straight red card for an extremely late foul from behind. But Bale was proud of his teammates’ attitude and applauded their commitment.

“Obviously it was disappointing to end the game the way we did, but the boys were frustrated and angry. That’s understandable, and I’d rather we go out like that, kick and scream, than quit and do nothing.”

The forward also thought there was a foul on Kieffer Moore in the build-up to the second goal, which ultimately left Wales chasing the game and in a tough position.

“Yes, definitely. If you play the ball through someone it’s a foul. I feel the referee was influenced by many supporters here, but I guess that’s what it is and there is no point in making excuses now. It’s disappointing, that’s all I can say. “

He also said it was a “missed opportunity” but credited his teammates for their efforts, saying he was “proud of them all”.

“Yes, of course we missed an opportunity, but one thing we can not fault is the effort the boys have shown, and that is the minimum requirement for this group and I am proud of them all.”
