Seagull’s eye moves for Rodon & James

Brighton want to bring Manchester United winger Daniel James and Joe Rodon to Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

James ‘chances of being a regular at Old Trafford next season have taken a huge hit after the arrival of Jadon Sancho, while Spurs’ quest for defender Takehiro Tomiyasu means Rodon could be available for transfer.

The Sun reports that Graham Potter is keen to bring the two stars to Brighton during the summer in a move that would significantly strengthen his side in both halves of the pitch.

The signing of James would be a reunion for the couple. The 23-year-old worked under Potter during his time in Swansea City, and it was there that James became famous.

The winger secured his move to Man Utd at the back of the electric form, but he has struggled to make a consistent impact in the Premier League. However, James impressed with Wales at Euro 2020 and showed his true ability on the big stage.

His arrival would provide a significant pace to the outside world for the Seagulls, who want to improve on last year’s 16th place.

Potter is equally determined to sign Rodon, who also shot to prominence in Swansea. The 23-year-old signed for Spurs 2020 for a fee of around 11 million pounds, and he initially got his eye on some impressive defensive screens.

However, he was used extremely sparingly by Jose Mourinho and made only 12 appearances in the Premier League last campaign. Spurs’ search for a new midfielder suggests that Rodon may not trust the starting line-up next year, and he can be sold to make room for all newcomers.

The Welshman’s signing would be an excellent replacement for Ben White, who looks set to leave Brighton in a £ 50m move to Arsenal or Everton this summer.
