Salah connected to Liverpool’s exit to Real Madrid or Barca

There is a “growing feeling” among Liverpool players that Mohamed Salah could push for a transfer this summer, with Barcelona and Real Madrid linked to a move forward.

Egypt will go down in history as one of the Reds’ best ever, having scored well over 100 goals since moving from Roma in 2017. Despite their struggles this season, he is the Premier League’s top scorer alongside Harry Kane, and enters this summer with its stock as high as ever.

Liverpool, however, are in a somewhat awkward position with the 28-year-old. His value will soon diminish if he does not sign extended terms at Anfield, with two years left on his current contract.

It is not expected that Jurgen Klopp’s side will make money – all reports indicate that Liverpool are relaxed about the situation and convinced that it will resolve itself – but that may well change if the player presses an exit.

ESPN has ignited the flames by claiming that there is a mild discomfort among the players that he could do just that. They say there is a growing belief that he can look for a new challenge elsewhere – especially if the Reds do not regain their form at home and qualify for the Champions League.

However, there has been nothing directly from Salah’s camp to suggest that he is considering his future. Accidental reports of a ‘feud’ with Sadio Mane aside, he has been a modeling professional this season, with his performance levels suggesting that his immediate focus is on his short-term future.

In an interview with Marca this week, he suggested that an exit to one of Barcelona or Real Madrid could be on the cards along the line. In the end, he just wants to be somewhere where he can win trophies.

He said: “[In the rest of my career] I hope to do the same as I have done in recent years. Winning trophies, scoring goals, helping my team win trophies … that’s the most important thing to me.

“It’s not up to me [whether I leave Liverpool]. We’ll see what happens but I prefer not to talk about it now.

“I hope to be able to play for many more years. Why not [move to Spain]? No one knows what will happen in the future, so … maybe one day, yes. “
