Rudiger Champions the Adoption of Madrid’s ‘Killer Instinct’ for Germany’s Euro 2024 Campaign

As Germany gears up for Euro 2024 on their own turf, Antonio Rudiger is optimistic about leveraging the home advantage.

With recent victories at Real Madrid, including clinching their 15th Champions League title by overthrowing Borussia Dortmund 2-0, Rudiger and teammate Toni Kroos are in prime form. This triumph follows their LaLiga victory, spearheaded by the seasoned Carlo Ancelotti.

Less than a fortnight away from clashing with Scotland in their Euro opener, Rudiger plans to transplant Madrid’s victorious strategies into the national squad under Julian Nagelsmann’s guidance.

“It’s like comparing apples and oranges,” remarked Rudiger on Wednesday, highlighting the contrast between club and national team playstyles. “Though the systems differ, Madrid’s relentless approach to scoring is something we aim to emulate.”

“Our last skirmish with Ukraine, though goalless, showcased promising gameplay unlike any recent 0-0 stalemates, but we lacked finishing touches,” he added.

The recent draw with Ukraine mirrored Germany’s disappointing outings in the last two World Cups, where they exited early in the group stages.

Before Euro 2024 kicks off, Germany faces Greece this Friday in a crucial warm-up bout, tuning up for challenges against Scotland, Hungary, and Switzerland in Group A.

“The buzz of anticipation is palpable back home,” noted Rudiger. “This Friday’s match is vital for boosting morale and rousing our supporters ahead of the championship.”

“We need to approach humbly, fully aware of our rocky journey in past tournaments,” he stated. “A strong debut is crucial, then we’ll tackle each match as it comes.”

Nagelsmann has tasked Rudiger with a pivotal leadership role within the team as they navigate through the tournament.

“Julian expects me to steer us forward,” Rudiger declared, ready to rise to the challenge.
