Barcelona Opts Out of Extending Joao Felix’s Stay as Joao Cancelo Makes His Return to Manchester City

Barcelona has announced the exits of Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo.

Joao Felix, once a top acquisition for Atletico Madrid, spent the last season on loan at Barca. Cancelo, his fellow countryman, arrived from Manchester City under a similar pact.

In all, Felix took the field 44 times for the Blaugrana, netting 10 goals and crafting six assists.

Despite reports that Barcelona’s new boss Hansi Flick wanted to extend Felix’s stay, he will revert to his principal squad.

The curtains drew on Felix’s loan stint this Sunday, coinciding with the loan’s termination.

Sunday also saw confirmation of Cancelo’s return. Barca reportedly balked at City’s price tag for the defender.

Both athletes are on the roster for Portugal in Euro 2024.

In another roster update, Barca disclosed Marcos Alonso’s departure as his contract concludes.

The team clinched second in LaLiga for the 2023-24 season.
