The United States has reportedly thrown its support behind Nigeria’s push to create a framework for prosecuting terrorism-related crimes. The backing emerged during U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Frank Garcia’s visit to the West African country, where officials reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the nations’ long-standing strategic partnership.
Nigeria’s government also renewed its pledge to confront security threats by strengthening law enforcement, expanding protection for vulnerable communities, and sustaining operations to secure the Gulf of Guinea and the Lake Chad Basin.
Garcia commended Nigeria’s leadership in advancing maritime security across the Gulf of Guinea and recognized the country’s pivotal role in fostering stability throughout the region.
