Somali Forces Eliminate 25 al-Shabab Fighters in Middle Shabelle Mission
Mogadishu (AX) — On a mission in Ras Qabow, a secluded locale nestled within the Middle Shabelle region, the Somali National Army (SNA) successfully neutralized 25 fighters from the Al-Shabab faction this past Saturday.
Colonel Mohamed Hassan Abukar Dhaladheere, leading the 251st unit of the 25th brigade, explained that the operation was initiated following the army’s successful defense against an assault by Al-Shabab. A fierce clash erupted afterward, testing the mettle of both sides.
“The gallant soldiers from the National Army delivered a resonant message to the Khawarij [an epithet the government uses for Al-Shabab] after they dared to attack the military outpost in Ras Qabow. We managed to bring down 25 of their combatants,” stated Commander Dhaladheere. He added that their pursuit of the remaining attackers is still underway.
This successful operation unfolded just days after the SNA orchestrated missions resulting in the demise of 59 militants in separate locales—Galgaduud and Middle Shabelle. Collaborating with local defenders and international allies, the SNA took down 32 extremists in the Garilay region and another 27 near Yaaqle, close to Hawadlay.
