A pivotal development has emerged in the $19 million cocaine seizure investigation as a significant person of interest has officially sought witness protection and expressed willingness to collaborate with law enforcement.
In parallel, two senators have urged the temporary suspension of the cargo-handling contract held by GLS Menzies. This company is currently under scrutiny since its senior managers have been identified as persons of interest in the expansive drug investigation that has quickly escalated to one of the nation’s most significant criminal probes.
“When leadership in an organization tasked with the protection of our national cargo routes faces investigation, it’s only prudent to pause their operations until the situation is clarified,” the senators noted in a formal statement. They further emphasized that their recommendation should not imply any presumption of guilt.
The government has intensified the inquiry by launching a Joint National Security Investigation that includes collaboration among various agencies, such as the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency, the Liberia National Police, and the National Security Agency.
