Tolls are deteriorating after an attack on Wednesday in the north of the country. Fourteen Burkinabè soldiers were killed in the middle of the presidential and team election campaign on November 22.

The attack took place between Beldiabe and Tin-Akoff. “The attackers were exaggerating by attacking this unit,” a security source said. According to the same source, the unit of soldiers had left Gorom-Gorom and reunited its base in Tin-Akoff, not far from the Malian border.

As a consequence of this deadly attack, the suspension of the election campaign for several candidates for several days. Prime Minister Christophe Dabiré said he was deeply saddened by the attack. “Despite adversity and courage, we must bring the electoral process to an end and lead our country’s march towards development,” he added.
