At the Presidential Palace in Koulouba, located on the heights of Bamako, the Malian delegations follow each other. Coordination of Azawad’s movements (the previous uprising) was received last Wednesday night by Colonel Assimi Goïta, the transition president.

A sign that does not deceive: according to our information, he presented to his guests Choguel Maïga. Member of M5, movement that contributed to the fall of the former president Ibrahim Boubacar Keitain August 2020, the latter will turn to the post of Prime Minister. And his presence was intended to reassure the ex-rebels on an important point: the application of the peace agreement in Algiers, which was signed in 2015.

Choguel Maïga has never hidden that he was against this agreement which, according to him, led to the division of the country. For their part, the ex-rebels recently decided not to support the transition as long as they have not received guarantees for its application. It’s ready now.

Regardless of which prime minister is appointed, he will not question the agreement. In any case, at the end of the meeting, the former rebels calmed down and declared that they were available to support the transition.

Oath announced on June 7th

From a source close to the meeting, it is next Monday, June 7, that Colonel Assimi Goïta will be sworn in before the Supreme Court before signing the decree appointing the Prime Minister.
