Somali Authorities Thwart Al-Shabaab’s Attempted Delivery of Explosives in Mudug District

In Mogadishu, Somali government troops have intercepted 150 tanks carrying fuel and explosive materials bound for the militant group Al-Shabaab. The mission, with the help of locals, occurred near Harardhere in the southern part of the Mudug region.

Military officials have stated that the shipment was heading to areas under Al-Shabaab’s control. Two suspects connected to the shipment were apprehended during the operation and are now being investigated.

This recent seizure is part of the ongoing campaign by government forces to disrupt Al-Shabaab’s logistics and activities. Previously, troops had prevented several car bombings in the Galmudug region by the group.

Despite these efforts, Al-Shabaab has managed to reclaim certain territories in southern Mudug after government and local forces withdrew from the areas in recent months.
