• Ex-Foreign Minister of Somalia Slams Government’s Rejection of Memorandum of Understanding Talks with Ethiopia

In Nairobi, the ex-Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Isse Awad, slammed the Somali government for snubbing talks with Ethiopia over the disputed Memorandum of Understanding with North Western of Somalia.

Awad criticized the government for rejecting proposed meetings with Kenya, Djibouti, and other nations to address the Ethiopia-North Western of Somalia deal.

He urged Somalia to engage diplomatically with Ethiopia to nullify the agreement and restore good relations between the two countries.

Awad accused Ethiopia and the UAE of violating Somalia’s sovereignty, despite global support for Somalia’s stance against Ethiopia.

Somalia maintained that it would not consider mediation in the Ethiopia dispute until the controversial maritime agreement with North Western of Somalia was canceled.
