Egyptian and Somali Foreign Ministers Tackle Relations and Horn of Africa Dynamics

Cairo (AX) – On Saturday, Somali Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Ahmed Maalam Faqi convened with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in Cairo to deliberate on enhancing ties between both nations.

According to the Somali administration, the deliberations concentrated on significant cooperation sectors such as the economy, security, education, culture, professional training, and health. Additionally, they explored the feasibility of initiating a direct flight route by July and establishing a Bank of Egypt branch in Somalia.

Shoukry and Faqi also tackled recent African regional developments and salient international matters of shared concern.

EgyptAir is set to commence direct flights connecting Cairo and Mogadishu on July 11, which will bolster both connectivity and economic bonds between Egypt and Somalia.

The airline plans to offer twice-weekly flights to Somalia’s heart, aligning with Egypt’s vision to enhance air links across Africa.

Somalia has historically enjoyed robust and cooperative relations with Egypt, viewing it as a significant ally.
