In Chad, the march to the Wakit Tama coalition

In Chad, the government approves for the first time the march to the Wakit Tama coalition, which is opposed to power on the ground. This movement, which unites civil society associations and political parties, intends to demonstrate to protest the risk of confiscation of power on the ground since the announcement of Idriss Deby Itno’s death on 20 April.

as reported from Ndjamena, Madjiasra Nako

Walking Wakit tama is admittedly approved, but under certain conditions. The coalition wanted to organize its demonstration against the confiscation of power on Wednesday, July 14, and on a path that is favorable for the marchers against the power of Idriss Deby, then against the Transitional Military Council (CMT), in power since the latter death.

But in his decree of 12 July, the Minister of Public Security postpones the march until Friday 16 July and assigns it a route from the Ministry of Justice to the Palais du 15 January. A route on which a walk, also authorized to condemn rape and impunity for rapists, took place a few weeks ago.

Upon analysis, some Wakit Tama leaders believe the government is trying to deter protesters living in remote neighborhoods by relocating the march.

The Wakit Tama Coalition therefore reserves its response to this condition. She will give it at the end of the extraordinary general meeting that the movement has demanded today, Tuesday.
