Pogba “excited” by newcomers

Paul Pogba is said to be “excited” by Manchester United’s catches of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, despite ongoing speculation that he may be on his way out of Old Trafford.

The Frenchman’s future has been questioned late – as seems to have become commonplace since he moved back to the Premier League in 2016 – with reports suggesting United are ready to break ties after rejecting their latest contract offer.

With only one year left on their current contract, the Red Devils were said to be keen to earn the World Cup winner to avoid losing him for free when his current contract expires next year.

But – and this is where it gets a little confusing – Sky Sports now reports that Pogba is “excited” about the club’s summer transfer business, especially the signings of Sancho and Varane.

Although the suggestions that Pogba is both on his way out of the club and happy about United’s new recruits completely contradict themselves, 90min can provide some clarity after recently revealing that he is not in a hurry to make a decision about his future.

United are preparing another contract offer that could make Pogba the highest paid player in the Premier League with as much as £ 400,000 a week. but the French international is well aware that he will receive similar startling offers from other clubs.

Juventus and PSG are both keen to secure their services, as are long-term fans of Real Madrid. However, Pogba is happy to sit back and weigh up his options before choosing where to play after next summer.

The bumper deal that United have drafted has caused friction in the Old Trafford camp, with parts of the club’s hierarchy not convinced that Pogba deserves such a large weekly salary.

Tying the Frenchman would, however, deny the need for the club to sell him for a reduced fee, and it may be financially meaningful to secure his long-term future – in a strange way – as they will be able to control a higher price tag than they would be forced to sell him for this summer.
