President Donald Trump said Sunday that the United States had carried out the rescue of a military officer, identified as a colonel, in what he described as “one of the most daring Search and Rescue Operations in US history.”

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the officer had been stranded behind enemy lines in Iran’s mountainous region and was being chased by hostile forces before he was brought out safely in a major military mission involving dozens of aircraft.
Noting that the officer suffered injuries, Trump said he “will be just fine.”
He said the operation came after the separate rescue of another US pilot on Friday, a mission that had not been disclosed earlier so as not to endanger the second effort.
“At my direction, the US Military sent dozens of aircraft, armed with the most lethal weapons in the World, to retrieve him,” he said. “This is the first time in military memory that two U.S. Pilots have been rescued, separately, deep in Enemy Territory.”
He also said both operations were completed without any Americans being killed or wounded.
Trump framed the rescues as evidence of American air superiority over Iran and lauded the armed forces as “the best, most professional, and lethal military in the history of the World.”
He said the missions were a source of pride for all Americans.
