MOGADISHU — Somalia has reiterated “firm and principled” support for the sovereignty, unity, security and territorial integrity of Yemen, rejecting any attempts or interventions that undermine the country’s constitutional legitimacy or state institutions, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said Tuesday.

In a statement, the government renewed its backing for Yemen’s internationally recognized authorities and emphasized that any settlement must be led and owned by Yemenis. “Somalia supports a Yemeni-led political process that preserves state sovereignty and fulfills the aspirations of the brotherly Yemeni people for security, stability, and development,” the ministry said.

The statement praised what it called the pivotal role of Saudi Arabia in supporting Yemen’s security and stability, commending Riyadh’s continued political, diplomatic and humanitarian efforts to end the conflict, ease suffering and advance a comprehensive peace process consistent with regional and international frameworks.

Somalia also acknowledged the role of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, citing its contribution to protecting Yemen’s state institutions, safeguarding sovereignty and territorial integrity, and supporting peace efforts in line with international legitimacy.

Reiterating solidarity with the kingdom, the Somali government said it rejects any threats to Saudi Arabia’s security, international maritime navigation or broader regional stability. The statement underscored that Yemen’s security is fundamental to safeguarding the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden and the Horn of Africa — vital waterways and regions that anchor trade and security across the Middle East and East Africa.

Somalia called on the international community to sustain support for a comprehensive and durable political solution that ends the conflict and restores Yemen’s stability and “its natural role within the Arab and regional spheres.”
