The gathering was designed to collect feedback and deepen coordination around a framework intended to bolster the country’s cybersecurity posture, protect critical digital infrastructure, and establish stronger risk management and compliance standards across sectors.

NCA Director General Mr. Mustafa Yasin Sheikh urged participants to engage closely with the draft and respond in detail. “We encourage all stakeholders to take the time to carefully review the document, analyze it in detail, and provide thoughtful input on each component,” he said.

The meeting was opened by State Minister of Communications and Technology H.E. MP Ahmed Osman Dirie, who pointed to the expanding role of technology in daily life and the risks that can accompany it. “The use of technology continues to expand and affects many aspects of life, including education and business. Without proper safeguards, these advancements can pose risks. Establishing a robust cybersecurity risk management and compliance framework is essential, and the National Communications Authority is mandated to lead this effort on behalf of the government,” he said.

Discussions centered on the need for a coordinated response to cyber threats, with participants examining risk identification, compliance procedures, and the responsibilities of institutions involved in the digital space.

Input gathered during the consultation will be used to refine and finalize the Cybersecurity Risk Management and Compliance Framework, which is expected to become a central tool in strengthening Somalia’s national cybersecurity governance.
