Iranian Parliament Speaker Calls Trump’s Claims “False”

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who led Iran’s delegation in the latest talks with the United States in Islamabad, said on X that Donald Trump had “made seven claims in one hour, all seven of which were false”.

“They did not win the war, and they will certainly not get anywhere in negotiations either with these lies,” Ghalibaf added.

Turning to the Strait of Hormuz, he warned that if the “continuation of the [US] blockade” persisted, the waterway “will not remain open”.

His comments echoed earlier remarks from Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei, who said that “whether the strait is open or closed and the regulations governing it will be determined on the ground, not on social media”.

Both statements came after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi posted in English on X that the “passage for all commercial vessels” through the Strait of Hormuz was “completely open for the remaining period of the ceasefire”.

That message prompted criticism from some Iranian media outlets and hardliners, who urged him to “clarify” what he meant.

“Media warfare and the shaping of public opinion are an important part of war, and the Iranian nation is not influenced by these tactics,” Ghalibaf said on X.
