TEHRAN – Mojtaba Khamenei, son of Iran’s Supreme Leader, declared in a written message that avenging his slain father reflects the will of the Iranian public and “must certainly” be carried out.
Arguing that Iranians expect a decisive answer against those he holds responsible, Mojtaba framed retaliation as a national duty that should not be postponed.
“Avenging our leader is the demand of the people, and it must certainly be carried out,” he said, offering no indication of how or when Iran might respond.
His comments land amid a fraught regional climate, as fears mount that any Iranian reprisal could inflame tensions across the Middle East.
Authorities in Tehran have yet to unveil concrete military or political steps after the killing. Even so, Mojtaba Khamenei’s statement is widely viewed as a hardline signal, reinforcing expectations that Iran will seek to punish those it deems responsible.
