Angola Enacts Controversial Legislation Limiting Civil Liberties
President João Lourenço has recently enacted two pieces of legislation that, according to Human Rights Watch, significantly undermine international standards for human rights, particularly in regard to media, expression, and association freedoms.On July 18, 2024, the National Assembly approved the Bill on Crimes of Vandalism of Public Goods and Services.
