Since 2015, one of the largest defendants in the Thomas Sankara case has not been found. Hyacinthe Kafando, former head of security for Blaise Compaoré in 1987, is in demand for military justice. An international arrest warrant has been filed against him since the case was reopened. After hearing about his summons from the interrogation judge, the man recovered. In 2016, he was located in Ivorian territory. But since then nothing.
as reported from Ouagadougou, Yaya Boudani
According to some sources who worked on the case, the first investigations had made it possible to locate Hyacinthe Kafando in the Ivory Coast. It was in August 2015, in the midst of a political transition, that the former head of security for Blaise Compaoré left the country.

“When the case was opened in 2015, the investigator issued a summons against him. But as a good soldier, he got wind of what was going on and he disappeared, explains a source familiar with the matter. “He was founded in Côte d’Ivoire, but he is discreet, and he is still alive,” said the same source.
To escape Burkina Faso, Hyacinthe Kafando would have benefited from the support of Yacouba Isaac Zida, the former president and former prime minister of the transition. It is one of his nephews who would have driven him to the Ivorian border. These revelations were made during the trial of the 2015 coup attempt, led by General Gilbert Diendéré.
Yacouba Isaac Zida would have advised Hyacinthe Kafando not to respond to the referee’s summons and leave the territory, according to General Gilbert Diendéré.
