Sergio Ramos speaks candidly about the pain caused by Sevilla’s resignation

Sergio Ramos has revealed how his move from Sevilla to Real Madrid in 2005 caused a huge amount of pain for him and his family due to a spread of misinformation and lies.

The legendary midfielder was one of the hottest young players in world football when Real swooped in to sign him over a decade and a half ago, and he has gone on to enjoy incredible success at both domestic, continental and international levels.

Ramos’ Real Madrid adventure has delivered several Champions League titles, while his former employer Sevilla has also risen to the top of European football – and thus won the Europa League six times.

But the way Ramos is leaving has always been disputed. Sevilla have long pointed the finger at the Spaniard for constructing a move away from Andalusia, while he has always claimed that he did nothing wrong.

Ramos has now fully opened up about his version of events in his Amazon documentary, The Legend of Sergio Ramos, in which he accused information of having been “manipulated” against him, before describing the emotional distress that not only caused him but also his family members. .

“I know what Sevilla is and how the fans feel,” the midfielder said in his Amazon documentary. “No one can tell me, because I’ve experienced it since I was young.

“All the information was manipulated and they lied to Sevilla. It was painful, not only for me but for my family. I will never forgive them for the pain of my grandparents, for my parents, who cannot return to Seville’s stadium.”

Ramos acknowledged that he wished he had raised the issue himself earlier – rather than relying on others to describe his version of events – but also explained that his inevitable love for Seville remains. However, he added that he has no regrets about the move itself, only with how things were played in public.

“I have made mistakes in my life and one of the biggest did not come out in public to explain [the move]. I let others tell me the story, he continued.

“My signing was completely agreed between the clubs. It was not Real Madrid who met a clause, as it is said to have been. It meant that the fans did not give me the same affection that I have always had and will always have for the club.

“I would make the same decision a thousand times over, but I would never let anyone tell the story that was told at that time. To this day, I can always say that I have played for Sevilla and that I will always be a Sevilla player until I die. but I can also proudly say that I am the Real Madrid and Spain captain. “
