The former Manchester City captain began his coaching career with Anderlecht in Belgium. Despite overseeing Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League, Kompany is expected to be announced as Bayern’s new head coach. Bayern parted ways with Tuchel after a trophyless season, paving the way for Kompany’s potential appointment. Nagelsmann lauded Kompany’s coaching abilities and expects him to leave a mark at Bayern. Bayern ended the Bundesliga season in third place, failing to win any trophies. Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen dethroned Bayern as German top-flight champions. Although Alonso was Bayern’s top choice, he decided to stay at Leverkusen. Kompany’s potential hiring by Bayern comes as a surprise move. Bayern is optimistic that Kompany will replicate his success from guiding Burnley to promotion. Burnley struggled in the Premier League this season, finishing 19th. If appointed, Kompany would leave Burnley after managing 96 games. He won 41 matches during his time at Burnley.
