Mbappé’s Euro 2024 Fate Hangs in the Balance: France Anxiously Awaits Update on Star’s Nose Injury

Didier Deschamps has announced a day-by-day assessment for Kylian Mbappe’s recuperation, noting the ace will eventually need an operation.

Mbappe suffered a busted schnoz during France’s late victory over Austria at Euro 2024 this Monday.

The striker, set to don Real Madrid’s colors come July, will sit out the impending clash with the Netherlands this Friday. France remains mum on when he might return, hinting at a potential miss for the ongoing group bouts.

Tuesday brought forth words from Deschamps via France’s official Twitter, stating, “Further scans tomorrow will clarify his recovery path.

“Our medics managed to mitigate the impact considerably. Surgery is on the cards, albeit not immediately.

“He felt somewhat better this morning, so we’re keeping a keen eye on his daily progress.”

Philippe Diallo of the French Football Federation exercised similar caution.

“Initial feedback’s optimistic—no immediate surgery required,” he shared with journalists.

“It’s premature to predict his availability for the rest of the event or outline any recovery timeline.

“Medical crews onsite swiftly evaluated Kylian’s condition, aiming to keep his tournament hopes alive.

“As it stands, surgery isn’t on the table just yet, and we await further developments before deciding on his tournament continuance.”
