Martinez Asserts: Ronaldo’s Pivotal Role Crucial for Portugal’s Success

Cristiano Ronaldo gears up for his record-breaking sixth European Championship, as Portugal sets sights on their second victory.

Ronaldo first took to the Euro stage in 2004 and clinched the title in 2016. His return this year marks a historic sixth appearance.

The football virtuoso has scored 128 times in 204 international caps, including 14 in the Euros alone.

At 39, this tournament might be Ronaldo’s swansong on the big stage, and Martinez is keen to leverage his vast expertise for Portugal’s opening match.

“Cristiano’s stellar club performances are undeniable. His knack for scoring is simply incredible,” Martinez relayed to the media this Friday.

“This is his sixth Euro tournament, a unique achievement in football. His seasoned presence is crucial for our squad,” he added.

“We have a roster of 23 players where competitiveness thrives and decisions are fluid. Yet, Cristiano’s readiness to empower the team remains unmatched globally,” Martinez elaborated.

Portugal is slated for a final tune-up with Croatia this Saturday, before they kickstart their Euro 2024 journey in Group F against the Czech Republic on June 18.
