Jerome Boateng is eager to move

Jerome Boateng is keen on a move to Manchester United this summer but there is no indication that the Red Devils actually want to sign him.

Boateng is currently without a club after being released from Bayern Munich at the end of last season. His departure ended an incredible decade in Bavaria. During that time he won nine Bundesliga titles, two Champions Leagues and numerous other domestic awards.

He presented regularly during his final season and made 39 appearances in all competitions. However, that was not enough to give him a new contract, with RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano as a replacement.

Since then, interest in Boateng has been great but he has not found his next club yet. According to Calciomercato (via the Daily Star), he dreams of a move to United – even though he enjoys a season-long period with Manchester City 11 years ago.

Although Boateng is concerned about the move, the feeling is not mutual. United have already competed for the signing of Raphael Varane this summer and have good strength deep in midfield in the form of Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe. Scott McTominay can also play the position if needed.

Fortunately for Boateng, there are several other clubs that are interested. Italy is a possible destination with Juventus, Milan, Napoli, Lazio and Roma all interested. It is understood that he prefers to play in the Champions League. This means that Juve and Milan have the greatest chance of concluding an agreement.

Sevilla, who finished fourth in La Liga, are also on track. They may be in need of defensive reinforcements soon with star midfielder Jules Kounde attracting serious interest from Chelsea. The Blues have been following Kounde closely for two years and now seem close to concluding a deal.
