Griezmann’s Hat-Trick Secures Atletico Madrid’s Champions League Spot with a 3-0 Victory over Getafe

Antoine Griezmann once again emerged as the savior for Atletico Madrid, securing their spot among Europe’s top contenders for the 2024-25 season.

In Atletico Madrid’s recent 3-0 victory against Getafe in LaLiga, Antoine Griezmann displayed an incredible performance with a hat-trick, ensuring their qualification for the Champions League.

The talented French player, Griezmann, scored the first goal in the 27th minute, receiving a perfectly placed throughball from Rodrigo De Paul. Shortly before halftime, he managed to score his second goal by skillfully redirecting Samuel Lino’s accurate pass into the net.

Griezmann completed his hat-trick in the 51st minute with a brilliant finish under the legs of Getafe’s goalkeeper, David Soria, with Lino providing his second assist to set up the goal for Atletico Madrid’s leading scorer.

This remarkable performance marked Griezmann’s second hat-trick of the season, having also achieved this feat in a 3-0 victory against Celta Vigo last October.

With only two games left in the season, Diego Simeone’s team stands at 73 points in fourth place, comfortably ahead of Athletic Bilbao in fifth place with an 11-point lead, following their 2-1 defeat against Celta Vigo on Wednesday.

Griezmann’s exceptional display in the game against Getafe makes him the sole player in LaLiga to secure two hat-tricks this season, both of which comprised goals scored solely with his left foot.

While Griezmann has scored an impressive total of 16 goals this season, his competition for the Golden Boot includes players like Artem Dovbyk (20 goals), Jude Bellingham, Alexander Sorloth (both with 19 goals), and Robert Lewandowski (17 goals).
