Exciting announcement: Miedema set to depart Arsenal by season’s end

After a lengthy stay in North London, Vivianne Miedema, the top all-time goalscorer of the WSL, will bid farewell to Arsenal as the season wraps up.

Arsenal has confirmed that Vivianne Miedema, the record holder for most goals in Women’s Super League, will be leaving the club at the conclusion of the current season.

Having joined Arsenal in 2017 from Bayern Munich, Miedema scored an impressive total of 125 goals and made 50 assists in 172 games across all competitions.

During her time with the Gunners, she secured the WSL title in 2018-19 and clinched three Conti Cups.

Her record-breaking 79 goals in the league make her the top scorer, with the Dutch forward claiming the Golden Boot for consecutive seasons, as well as setting a new league benchmark with 22 goals in a single season.

In a heartfelt video shared on Instagram, Miedema expressed her gratitude for the memorable seven years at Arsenal, acknowledging the rich history and tradition of the club.

Struggling with injuries in her final seasons at Arsenal, Miedema endured an ACL injury in December 2022, leaving her sidelined for 10 months and later requiring knee surgery in March.

Manchester City is rumored to be the front-runners to secure Miedema’s signature on a free transfer when her contract with Arsenal concludes.
