An XI of players who can earn big transfers

One of the best parts of any major tournament is seeing which players hit their stocks so high that they earn a big transfer.

Known as ‘Andriy Arshavin Effect’ (patent application), we have seen many players seal big moves from the back of some impressive performances at the international level, and Euro 2020 has been no exception.

Here is an XI of players who have earned a step from this summer’s tournament.

Current club: Free agentSuggested clubs: Wolves, Southampton, Union Berlin

Expect to see Vaclik’s name in the rumor mill soon. The 32-year-old is a free agent after leaving Sevilla, where he spent last season as a backup to Bono.

This summer, with the Czech Republic, Vaclik has looked much better than an unwanted goalkeeper. He has made some outstanding saves and still looks like he has a few years left at the top level.

Current club: PSVSuggested clubs: Bayern Munich, Inter, Everton

Probably a break-star in Euro 2020, Dutch defender Dumfries will definitely play for a top team when the transfer window closes.

People like Bayern Munich and Inter are aiming for the 25-year-old, who scored two goals and an assist and looked like the biggest goal threat in the entire Dutch line-up.

Current club: Borussia MönchengladbachSuggested clubs: Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham

In a world where young midfielders are angry, it is a big surprise that Elvedi’s name has not been mentioned yet.

The 24-year-old has shone in the heart of Switzerland’s defense and looked more than capable of playing for a Champions League side. His Gladbach team missed this season, so a move may be on the cards.

Kalas plays in Championship / Chloe Knott – Danehouse / Getty Images

Current club: Bristol CitySuggested clubs: Leicester, West Ham

It has been over seven years since Kalas got Luis Suarez in his pocket, but the Czech defender looks as if he has not skipped a shot.

Kalas is a dominant force in the euro and will spend next season with a Bristol City side that only narrowly avoided relegation from the championship last year. That’s not true.

Spinazzola has been one of the tournament’s finest / Quality Sport Images / Getty Images

Current club: RomeSuggested clubs: Juventus, Inter

When he left Juventus in 2019, it looked as if Spinazzola’s journey to the top might be over, but it actually just started.

He has been unreal to Italy on the left side of the defense, flying up and down the wing and wreaking havoc on every defender in his path. Spinazzola looks like he may be ready to join one of the game’s best sides.

Locatelli is wanted by Juventus / Claudio Villa / Getty Images

Current club: SassuoloSuggested clubs: Juventus, Manchester City

An obvious one here. Locatelli’s popularity trends upwards after an excellent season with Sassuolo, but his stock is higher than ever after his dominant performance for Italy.

A £ 40m move to Juventus seems short-lived, but virtually all teams in Europe’s elite are watching the 23-year-old.

Baumgartner has already been the subject of interest / Mihai Barbu – Pool / Getty Images

Current club: HoffenheimSuggested clubs: Liverpool, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund

After his breakout year with Hoffenheim, the euro has given Bamgartner the stage he needed to show his talents to the world.

The Austrian already sees his name linked to Manchester United and Liverpool, and now that his team is out of the Euro, expects interest to increase.

Sanches proves itself again / Alexander Hassenstein / Getty Images

Current club: SmallSuggested clubs: Liverpool, PSG

After quietly rebuilding himself during his two years with Lille, Sanches has used the Euro to prove that he has finally reached the level we all expected of him five years ago.

Sanchez has no longer been the stressed child who went to a billboard in Swansea, but has been a real midfielder who can turn defense into an attack in an instant. Such players are always in demand, so a second transfer of £ 30m + may be on the cards.

Yarmolenko has fought injuries / Justin Setterfield / Getty Images

Current club: West HamSuggested clubs: Southampton, Newcastle

In just four matches in the euro, Yarmolenko has played almost as many minutes as he did in the Premier League for West Ham last year.

Now that he has proven his fitness, Yarmolenko will stand at a crossroads this summer. Is he looking for a fresh start from West Ham, or is he betting on joining a team that almost made it to the Champions League without him?

Current club: Bayer LeverkusenSuggested clubs: West Ham, Brighton

When you make one of the biggest goals in the history of the European Championship, there is a good chance that scouts will take you into account.

The 25-year-old has been fantastic for the Czech Republic and is one of the most talked about strikers in the world these days, but if any club were to pay more than the £ 26 million Leverkusen paid for him last summer, it is up for debate.

Damsgaard can leave Sampdoria / Wolfgang Rattay – Pool / Getty Images

Current club: SampdoriaSuggested clubs: Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, Tottenham

Denmark has been on a real roller coaster this summer, and part of the rise to that has been the emergence of Sampdoria winger Damsgaard.

With brilliant performances against both Russia and Wales, the 20-year-old has looked like the star of the future that he has long been billed as, and he may take the next step in his career this summer.
