the 11 teachers released, last tribute to the school children killed

In Cameroon, teachers from the Presbyterian school kidnapped in Kumbo were released on Thursday, November 5, at noon, according to the office of the governor of the English-speaking northwestern region. A release coming as the funeral of the murdered children at their school in Kumba on October 14 took place in the morning in the English-speaking southwestern area.

The 11 teachers from Kumbo Presbyterian School had been detained since Tuesday, Nov. 3, when they were abducted during school hours. According to the president of the Presbyterian Church, Pastor Samuel Fonki, the kidnappers were separatists who released the teachers under pressure from civil and religious society without any financial compensation.

According to him, the teachers are still in good health. They were neither beaten nor handled. If there has been any doubt about the number of detainees since Tuesday, the pastor confirms that there are actually 11 prisoners who returned home this Thursday.
