Acting on actionable intelligence, the army conducted a targeted operation in the southern Borno region, leading to the safe recovery of the remaining victims. Upon rescue, the girls were taken to a military facility for necessary medical care, psychological support, and debriefing. According to army officials, the rescued girls will be reunited with their families once all required procedures are completed.
The army praised both the troops involved and the local community members for their crucial roles in the operation. They emphasized that the successful rescue demonstrates ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist threats in Nigeria’s North-east region. This recent operation follows a series of similar rescues in Kebbi, Niger, and Kwara states, after President Bola Tinubu ordered security agencies to ramp up actions against renewed insurgent attacks.
The army’s commitment to combating terrorism remains unwavering, as they continue to respond to the pressing needs of affected communities while securing safe returns for abducted individuals. This operation not only highlights the dangers posed by terrorist groups in the region but also underscores the resilience and determination of military forces working alongside local populations to confront these threats.
