Reports from law enforcement indicate that a VIP bus, transporting around 30 players and staff members, was approached by a group of six armed assailants while traveling from Samreboi to Berekum. Three of these individuals were armed with pump-action shotguns. Frimpong was critically injured during the attack, succumbing to his gunshot wounds while receiving medical assistance.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) voiced its “profound shock and deep sorrow,” honoring the 20-year-old as a “promising young talent whose dedication and passion for the game embodied the spirit of our league.” In light of the incident, police officials reassured the community that they are actively pursuing those responsible for this heinous act and urged the public to maintain their composure as the investigation unfolds.
