Somali Ambassador Officially Recognizes Role with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister

Baghdad (AX) – Ridwan Hirsi Mohamed, the Somali Ambassador to Iraq, handed over his credentials to Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad, on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

During the session, the Deputy Prime Minister also accepted credentials from Branislav Žeželj of Serbia; Anil Bora Inan from Turkey; Yunus Abdul Karim, Malawi’s non-resident ambassador; Tselane Mokuena from South Africa; Gorazd Rencelj of Slovenia; and Archil Dzuliashvili from Georgia.

Each diplomat held individual discussions with the Deputy Prime Minister. They explored ways to forge robust, balanced ties, enhance collaboration, and address mutual interests. Minister Hussein highlighted that Iraq’s foreign policy prioritizes building strong, balanced relationships and fostering cooperation across various sectors.

Minister Hussein conveyed his wishes for the ambassadors’ success in their new roles, assuring that the Foreign Ministry stands ready to offer necessary backing to ensure their triumph in Iraq, while fostering cordial relations and joint initiatives. He also expressed his intent to establish permanent embassies in Iraq soon.

The ambassadors reciprocated with gratitude, keen to deepen their nations’ ties with Iraq across diverse fields, thereby fortifying bilateral relations.

Previously, Ridwan Hirsi Mohamed served as Somalia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Religious Affairs.
