Five Killed in Twin Bomb Explosions in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AXADLE) – Tragedy struck the Kahda district on Saturday when two bomb blasts claimed five lives and left eight wounded, according to local officials.

Abdullahi Abdirahman, the Commissioner of Kahda District, revealed that the initial explosion occurred in a lively greenfield area where youth regularly congregate for selfies and social media videos.

The second blast erupted soon after rescue teams had arrived, compounding the devastation.

“The bomb exploded on the roadside while young folks were snapping selfies,” shared Mohamed Ahmed, a survivor. “A massive blast shot dark smoke skyward. People nearby ran to assist, only for a second explosion to follow.”

Images from the ghastly aftermath displayed injured individuals and bodies strewn about.

Local authorities have denounced the attack in the strongest terms.

So far, no group has stepped forward to take responsibility.
