Forward for PSG debut vs Reims

Lionel Messi is expected to make his debut in Paris Saint-Germain in his Ligue 1 meeting with Reims on Sunday 29 August.

Messi has undergone a disrupted pre-season this summer, first led Argentina to the Copa America honor and then had his training disrupted by his shock departure from Barcelona. Barça had been desperate for him to stay in his boys’ club and the forward also wanted to stay.

However, La Pulga could not be offered new conditions and registered due to Blaugrana’s difficult financial situation. As soon as Messi’s resignation was announced, PSG moved quickly to catch him.

Since then, there has been much speculation about when he would make his debut. The latest update indicated that he would not be ready for action until after the international break. But according to Sky Sports, Messi can actually make his debut against Reims on August 29.

Mauricio Pochettino gave an update on his star’s availability before his side’s 4-2 win over Strasbourg this weekend, saying: “As for when we might see Leo; it’s his second training day after a month since he played the last game at. Copa America.

“We will take it step by step, get to know each other and make him feel fit and comfortable so he can make his debut when he is completely healthy.”

Messi was seen in the stands during the Strasbourg game and he will probably have the same vantage point when PSG host Brest on Friday night.

When the legendary forward is fully fit, Pochettino will be able to set up one of the best fronts in modern football history. In addition to Messi, PSG can also call on Neymar and Kylian Mbappe – a trident who will terrorize French defense all season.
