Two Somali Ministers Step Down, Claiming Federal Government Conspiracy to Heighten Regional Strife
Mogadishu (AX) — On Sunday, the Somali Deputy Minister of Education, Ahmed Isman Ibrahim Daqare, alongside Abdirashid Jire Qalinle, Minister of State for Planning and International Cooperation, tendered their resignations due to the federal government’s intentions to challenge certain regional authorities.

Qalinle shared his apprehensions regarding what he perceives as discriminatory actions by the federal government against the regional governments of Jubbaland, Northeastern State, and SSC Khatumo. Daqare, in a similar vein, accused the federal administration of deliberately marginalizing these regions.
“It’s increasingly evident to me that the government is fueling violence in Jubbaland, stirring up civil discord for its own benefit. After considerable soul-searching, I have made the decision to step down from my role as Deputy Minister for Education, Heritage, and Higher Education,” Daqare remarked.
These departures underscore the rising political friction between Somalia’s federal government and the administrations of both Jubbaland and Northeastern State. The tension has further escalated due to ongoing disputes about the electoral process, with Jubbaland and Northeastern State enduringly boycotting recent National Consultative Council meetings in Mogadishu.
