The donation from TIKA includes computers, printers and television screens, which will be placed in the ministry’s new building to boost efficiency and speed up service delivery.
Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdi Hayir Mareye said the Turkish contribution would reinforce the ministry’s institutional capacity, improve public services and support Somalia’s push toward food self-sufficiency.
“I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to TIKA, the development agency of our brotherly nation, the Republic of Türkiye, for delivering today the first phase of their response,” Mareye said after the handover ceremony in Mogadishu.
The minister said the request for support had been made to TIKA President Abdullah Eren during a 2025 meeting in Ankara.
“We deeply value this partnership and look forward to continued cooperation with our Turkish friends,” Mareye said.
Turkish humanitarian and technical development support to Somalia has since exceeded $1 billion, funding projects in health, education, municipal services and infrastructure.
