Jubaland Blames Somali Federal Authorities for Stirring Conflict in Gedo After Lethal Clashes
BELEDXAWO, Somalia – On Wednesday, the Jubaland administration issued a fiery statement accusing Somalia’s federal leadership of stirring up recent lethal skirmishes in Beledxaawo, Gedo region, where several Jubaland soldiers met their demise.
According to the Jubaland Ministry of Information, the regional authority holds President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Gedo’s security boss, Abdirashid Janan, responsible for agitating unrest and disrupting peace in the area.
Jubaland officials claim the central government is executing a strategic plot to destabilize their administration.
“Jubaland stands resolute against any schemes to destabilize our regional governance and Somalia’s federal system,” the statement declared. “We believe Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is chiefly responsible.”
This declaration arrives as federal initiatives have expelled forces supporting Jubaland from Beledxaawo and nearby territories. The central government urges remaining Jubaland troops in Gedo to capitulate to the Somali National Army to pacify the region.
The tumult in Gedo keeps simmering with repeated clashes between Jubaland and federal entities, highlighting the broader dispute between Somalia’s central authority and its regional counterparts.
