Van Dijk, Salah in line for new business
Revenues have been sparse in Liverpool this summer with Ibrahima Konate the only notable Anfield arrival so far.
However, that does not mean that there is not much work being done behind the scenes, with sports director Michael Edwards focusing all his efforts on securing the future of some of those who are already at the club.

News that Trent Alexander-Arnold has signed a new four-year contract at Anfield will have come as music to the ears of Liverpool fans given the right-back’s impact on their side, and it is unlikely he will be the last to link his future to Red. this summer.
Athletic reports that a number of first-team players are queuing up to extend their contracts for “the coming weeks and months”. Alisson, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are just some of the players Edwards is keen to make new deals with.
The club also hopes that agreements can be reached with Andy Robertson and Fabinho, while Sadio Mane is another in the queue for a new contract despite his wonderful campaign 2020/21 – which made him only complain about 11 Premier League goals, his second lowest number since moves to Anfield 2016.
Much has been done about Liverpool’s need to freshen up their squad with many of their key players from the triumphant league campaign 2019/20, which is now approaching its 30s – or if Van Dijk has already reached that milestone.
However, the Reds clearly believe that the above players are worth another deal and we could see further announcements about the extension of the contract very soon.
One man whose future at Anfield is far from clear is Jordan Henderson. The English international has two years left on his deal at Merseyside, but with contract talks hitting the buffer, it remains to be seen if there will be an agreement.
