Despite rumors of a potential departure, Benjamin Sesko has committed his future to RB Leipzig by signing a contract extension. This big move seals his stay till 2029 at the bustling Red Bull Arena.
At the ripe age of 21, Sesko was courted by major clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea. Nevertheless, he chose to extend his stint with the Bundesliga team. Upon joining from Red Bull Salzburg on a quintennial contract the previous summer, Sesko has netted 18 times across 42 games. His performance significantly contributed to Leipzig securing fourth place in the league.
Looking ahead, the Slovenian forward, who will compete against teams like England, Denmark, and Serbia at Euro 2024, expressed excitement about continuing his journey with RBL. He remarked on the club’s official site, “My debut season here was smashing, and sticking around was a no-brainer for me. Leipzig offers an ace package—team, club, city, supporters; I dig it all.”
Sesko admitted that his early days at the club were pivotal for his growth, despite not scoring much initially. “That period was key for seasoning my skills. With massive loyalty and cred from the club, I’m set to unleash my best,” he noted.
In the latter half of the season, Sesko began repaying the faith placed in him with crucial goals. “We’ve unearthed some slick performance previously but aim to elevate our game further. More achievements await, and that’s our joint purview now,” he added.
